Some people were laying flowers to the Unknown Soldier's grave, others were having their pictures taken by the Eternal Fire and Hero City monuments.
The veterans had some kind of a get-together at Hotel Rossiya - there were hundreds of them there, and as they were walking back to their buses, it was so sad to realize that these were the remnants of a generation - the generation whose lives were ruined by the war, among other things. And that most of them are not gonna be here anymore in five years... But then I saw one woman who proudly carried Stalin's portrait printed in the Pravda newspaper that the veterans had received together with the carnations. That made me sick - and very, very angry. Most other veterans I've seen used their newspapers to wrap their flowers in.
These are great photos! The lady in your favorite one has a solid wide stance with a very low center of gravity as if nothing ever has or ever will bring her down. She is a survivor and ready for the next war. I wonder if the other lady holding Pravda is just holding on to her memories of when she was young. My favorite one is the line of people crossing the street.

The pictures are marvellous, as usual. Stalin, better forgotten, I suppose.
